The Story Behind Klein Fresh Meats
Klein Fresh Meats means much more to me than simply opening another business.
My name is Casey Klein. I was born in Minot, and when I was six years old my family moved to the Twin Cities. Even after moving away, Minot always felt like home. We came back often to help on the family farm, spend time with my grandma Beatrice and my grandpa Edward Aberle, and make memories that stayed with me throughout my life.
I started working in the meat industry at 16 years old. What began as a job quickly became something I truly loved. Over the last 25 years, I've worked my way up, learned every part of the business, and built a career doing something I genuinely take pride in.
Last year, when I returned to Minot for my grandfather's funeral, something changed in me. My grandpa always loved hearing about the meat shop and seeing what I was doing. We shared a lot of memories around food, sausage making, family gatherings, and sitting together around the table.
Being back with family made me realize I wanted to return to my roots and build something of my own in the community where my family comes from.
This isn't a large corporation coming into town. It's my wife, my family, and me putting everything we have into building something meaningful from the ground up.
I believe food brings families together. Some of life's best memories happen around kitchens, smokers, grills, holidays, and dinner tables. If Klein Fresh Meats can become even a small part of those moments for families here, then all the hard work will be worth it.
We came back to Minot because we wanted a better life for our family and because this community means something to us personally. I truly believe my grandfather helped guide me back here, and I hope we can build something that would make him proud.
Thank you to everyone who has supported us already. We still have a lot of work ahead of us, but we're excited to become part of this community and serve Minot for many years to come.
